About the dose to units calculator
Once a vial is already mixed you do not need to redo the reconstitution math, you only need to turn a dose into syringe units. This calculator skips straight to that step.
Enter the concentration you reconstituted to (in mg/mL) and the dose you want. The tool converts your dose to milligrams if needed, divides by the concentration to get the volume in mL, and multiplies by 100 to display U-100 units.
If you do not know your concentration yet, start with the reconstitution calculator, which derives it from your vial size and water.
FAQ
How do I convert mg to units?
Divide your dose in mg by the concentration in mg/mL to get the volume in mL, then multiply by 100. On a U-100 syringe, 1 mL equals 100 units. This calculator does it automatically.
How many units is 1 mg?
It depends entirely on concentration. At 2.5 mg/mL, 1 mg is 0.4 mL or 40 units; at 5 mg/mL the same 1 mg is only 20 units. That is why concentration is a required input.
Does this work for mcg doses?
Yes. Toggle the dose unit to mcg and the calculator converts to mg internally (1 mg = 1000 mcg) before working out the units.
